The Contents of Abstract in this Thesis:
Since the Chi-Chi Earthquake occurred at September 21, 1999, the landslides happen at central Taiwan has been spotted and increased more than ten times of that event before earthquake. The number of increased from 220 locations to 2365 after Chi-Chi earthquake. However, several typhoons (e.g. Toraji、Nari、Lekima、Mindule, etc.) destroy many disaster preventing facilities which are induced by landslide calamity. This is also seriously hinged the reconstruction work and damaged the surrounding habitant environment.
Techniques integrated with remote sensing, virtual reality, and multimedia were used to field investigation on several devastating areas where includes Cao-Lin、Shen-Mu、Fong-Qiu and Song-He township. A programmed simulation system by using Visual Basic and VRML to simulate the movement of debris flow. This system also provides the virtual image environment and virtual engineering background for those devastating areas in central Taiwan. This system can provide a function to connect the World Wide Web(WWW) that can be used to update new information regarding debris flow calamity in real time. After all, these systems can be used as a reference for conducting the sediment disaster prevention research and carry out a reconstruction project in the near future.
